Getting to Exeter

Arriving by train
Exeter is well-served by rail and has a surprising number of train stations for a town of its size - Exeter Central, St David’s, and St Thomas are the three principle stations. St David’s is the closest train station to the venue and is also the best served by intercity services - including services to London, Bath and Bristol.
Exeter St David’s is served by the following companies:
Great Western Railway
intercity services to London Paddington via Bath, Bristol, and the Thames Valley; local services in Devon and Cornwall.
South Western Railway
services to London Waterloo.
intercity services to Birmingham/Midlands, the North including Scotland.
The British Railway system was privatised over 25 years ago and understanding both who is operating your train and where to buy tickets can be complex at times.
You should be able to purchase standard tickets for any operator from any of the above sites or from any UK train station. You can also use an independent site such as trainline.com. Occasionally you may find some heavily discounted advanced fares (usually restricted to individual trains) that are exclusively available on a train operator’s website.
